Zacatecas Metropolitan Transit System
Zacatecas, Zacatecas (2019)
Colaboration with Nolte de Mexico.
As part of the comprehensive project for the implementation of the new transportation model for the metropolitan area of Zacatecas-Guadalupe, ÁGORA carried out the urban and architectural design of the stations, bridges, the urban environments around them and a transportation terminal.
From an urban point of view, the project aims, in addition to promoting mobility in public transport, to serve as a zipper between the northern and southern areas of the city, currently divided by the metropolitan road axis.
The architectural proposal is based on two concepts: the first refers to the modularity of the different components; this is how bridges and stations are made up of a set of modules that are configured differently depending on the particular characteristics of each point. The second concept refers to identity, for which the architectural legacy and the natural environment of the city are taken up to propose stone structures in reddish tones that evoke the natural terrain, and steel elements in black that refer to the mining activity that gave birth to Zacatecas and the ironworks found in its historic center.
